NRIs prop up wedding business in city
With the onset of wedding season, NRIs are thronging the city in large numbers, bringing smiles to city businessmen. Notably, this time

the business appears to be better than last year and the good times are expected to continue till December.

Marking the affluent lifestyle of Punjabis, lavish parties and massive amount of money is being used for celebrations. Be it flowers, decorations, food, clothes or jewellery, the NRIs are leaving no stone unturned to make a perfect wedding.

According to astrologers, from October 29 Devothani Ekadshi would start, marking the beginning of the wedding season. Noted astrologer Acharya Krishenpal Vedpathi said, ‘‘This is the time when positive energies start coming together.

‘‘Though it is the starting of the wedding season, as compared to last year we are doing good business,’’ said Sunpreet Manager of Riwaaz. He added that NRIS are thronging their store in much larger numbers this time.

Happy over wedding orders, Sonu, owner of Nilibar clothes outlet, said that when it comes to Ludhanivis money is not a problem and people spend as much as they can to look good.

Rubbal, an NRI from Melbourne, who is here to attend the wedding of her cousin in the city, said NRIs generally prefer to shop in India for important occasions and therefore do not care about how much they spend on it.
